Makeup can enhance your fashion and sense of style in the blink of an eye, and I love creating artistic looks,” avows Surkhab, who is 29 and pursuing her passion for makeup & beauty. Surkhab had wanted to become an esthetician since childhood. She got excited by seeing her mom doing makeup. Since then she didn’t look back and decided to transform her dream, her passion into reality. Surkhab graduated in Fine Arts from MCM DAV College, Chandigarh & her professional makeup artistry course from the French Fashion Institute Esmod Dubai. She also grabbed a chance of attending masterclasses with many famous personalities like Huda Kattan, Mario Dedivanovic, and Kim Kardashian.
Surkhab says, “I feel blessed to have such a supportive family. Whatever I am today is because of them. Huge credit goes to my family & well-wishers & especially my mother who believed in me and inspired me to Beauty”.
Surkhab wanted to do something that is connected to her passion. And here she is today, a renowned makeup artist and the owner of a beauty brand- Volt Beauty. She says, “I am very fond of doing different eyeshadow looks and amplifying the ethereal beauty of women. That’s why I thought of starting my eyelash brand. We do lashes in 5 styles from lightweight to heavier depending on the client’s preference and eye shapes. But I am over the moon that girls love these lightweights yet glamorous eyelashes”.
When asked about a success Mantra she replies, “To be a successful artist, in any field, one must be original. Just copying looks done by others should not be the end goal. Otherwise, the client could have done it themselves at home. Having a unique touch of your own or the ability to create a new and unique look is what makes a makeup artist stand out from the crowd. I have noticed that a few makeup artists end up making mistakes while doing makeup. Maybe the eyeliner doesn’t look perfect or lipstick is not enhancing the beauty of lips. But I think a good makeup artist stays calm through such situations and finds quick solutions. And this is the real identity of a successful makeup artist because a successful makeup artist is a combination of many factors, including skills, talent, aptitude, and personality as well as a bit of luck sometimes”.
