What Is A Drumstick Plant?

Generally, drumstick plants are 4-6 metres high and bloom in 90-100 days. Then, the fruits plucked at different stages according to the need. The fruit matures in about 160-170 days after planting. In a year, fruit is ready in 65-170, both from one plant. Drumstick plants can grow up to 10 metres in height. But people cut it yearly from one and a half to two metres so that the hand can easily reach its fruits and leaves. Its raw-green beans used the most. Almost all the parts of the Drumstick (leaf, flower, fruit, seed, branch, bark, roots, oil obtained from seed etc.) are eaten.

Nutrients Found In Drumstick

Many types of nutrients found in drumsticks. Nutrients mainly found in it like carbohydrates, fats, proteins, water, vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium etc. Drumstick has preventive properties for more than 300 diseases. It contains 90 types of multivitamins, 45 types of anti-oxidant properties, 35 types of pain relieving properties and 17 types of amino acids.

 

Land And Climate For Drumstick Cultivation

Drumstick can cultivated in all types of soil. For example, it can also produced in waste, barren and less fertile land. It grows well in dry loam or loamy soils. Moreover, it plants flowers easily in hot areas. It doesn’t even need much water. It rarely cultivated in cold regions because its plant cannot tolerate extreme cold and frost. Preparing Drumstick Plant

500 to 700 grams of seed is enough to cultivate drumsticks in one hectare. Seeds can planted directly in prepared pits with a Seed Drill or prepared in polythene bags and planted in pots. The seedlings ready to sown with a polythene bag within a month. One-month-old seedlings can planted in the prepared holes in advance from June to September. When the plant reaches about 75 cm, the upper part of the plant should plucked. This makes it easier for the branches to come out from the side.

The Right Way To Plant

The planting of drumstick plants done by making a pit. After weeding the field evenly, 45 X 45 X 45 cm spacing of 2.5 X 2.5 m. The hole should filled by mixing 10 kg of rotten dung manure with the topsoil of the pit. This makes the field ready for transplanting. Irrigating Drumstick

Harvest And Yield

The fruit can harvested at different stages as per the requirement. The fruit matures in about 160-170 days after planting. Once planted, it can give fruit for 4-5 years. Every year after harvesting, cutting the plant leaves one metre from the ground is necessary. Harvesting of two-fruiting drumstick varieties generally done in February-March and September-October. About 200-400 (40-50 kg) drumsticks obtained from each plant in a year. The fruit of the Drumstick should plucked before the fibre comes. Due to this, its demand remains in the market and gives more profit.
