Ruhullah Kawa, also known by his stage name RAK, was born on January 9, 2001, in the picturesque town of Sumbal in Kashmir. He pursued his education at the Central University of Kashmir , specializing in B.A honors in history. Originally an Ismaili Shia by faith, he underwent a conversion to Twelvers Shia or Jafaria in 2017.
Ruhullah’s early educational journey took place at GDC Sumbal, laying the foundation for his intellectual pursuits. His parents, notably his father Mohammad Jafar Kawa, played a significant role in shaping his early life.
Apart from his academic pursuits, Ruhullah ventured into the realm of creative expression, particularly through the art of Marsiya recitation and writing in Kashmiri. His unique talent garnered attention, leading him to produce over 200 tracks encompassing ghazals, Kashmiri marsiya, Mankabat, and Nohas, showcasing his diverse range as an artist.
One of his notable achievements is the authorship of a popular book titled “The Silence of 25 Years,” offering insights into the life of Imam Ali. This literary endeavor earned him recognition and accolades.
Inspired by the renowned Dr. Sir Mohammad Iqbal, Ruhullah Kawa embarked on a journey to explore and express his creativity. In 2023, on October 18, he entered into a three-year agreement with Distrokid for his YouTube channel. As a result, his official channel, managed by Distrokid, has accumulated 1 million views and 2 thousand subscribers, showcasing the widespread appeal of his content.
Despite his online presence, Ruhullah maintains a relatively low profile on social media. He maintains a personal Facebook profile, eschewing platforms like Instagram and Twitter. This deliberate choice allows him to focus on his artistic endeavors, with Distrokid overseeing the operations of his thriving YouTube channel.
Ruhullah Kawa, a liberal Muslim, actively advocates for the love of Ahlul Bait. His commitment to promoting a more inclusive and tolerant interpretation of Islam sets him apart.
