Instagram Shadow-ban is a ban that renders your hashtags undiscoverable by the vibrant users. Only your followers will be able to see your feed and not the entire Instagram community. The ban is superficial and happens only when a rule has been broken. You have to fix those red flags to get your content back in good standing.

WHY DID MY ACCOUNT GET SHADOW BANNED?

2. You’re abusing Instagram’s daily and hourly limits. Yes, there are limits to how many actions you can take per day on Instagram. This includes the amount of photos you like, the amount of comments you leave and how many people you follow or unfollow. Depending on the age of your account, your limits may be different but in most cases you shouldn’t exceed 150 likes, 60 comments and 60 follows/unfollows per hour.

HOW CAN I GET MY ACCOUNT BACK TO NORMAL?

1. Stop using all forms of automation and revoke access from your API. This is a simple one: STOP USING AUTOBOTS TO GROW YOUR FOLLOWING. Listen, I get it, I get the appeal, it saves time, it’s easy to implement, you see results pretty quickly, but let’s be real, this is not an authentic way to build a business. When you leave automated comments on your potential clients feeds, they can tell. When you follow and unfollow the same person 5 times in 4 days, they notice, and those types of actions reflect really poorly on your brand or businesses reputation. Remember it’s always better to have 100 followers who truly love and support what you do, than 10,000 followers who are using autobots to like your posts and never ever click through to your website or purchase your products & services. Once you’ve deleted and logged out of any and all automation services, you need to check and see if any of them are still attached to your Instagram account. Do this by logging into instagram.com via desktop. Navigate to your feed by clicking the man icon in the top right, then click ‘Edit Your Profile’. From here click ‘Authorized Applications’ on the left and check for anything suspicious, or anything you don’t recognize. (Instagress and the like don’t properly use Instagram’s API so they probably wont show up here, but you might see other random sites you logged into in the past or apps you downloaded). For anything you don’t recognize or aren’t certain are safe to use, revoke their access by clicking the big blue “Revoke Access” button. 

2. Remove broken or abused hashtags from your set & delete them from old posts. Go through all of the hashtags you use, one by one and make sure that none of them are limited by Instagram. If they have been limited you will either see nothing at all (the entire tag has been removed), or you’ll see just one page of images followed by a notice that states the tag has been hidden due to abuse. If you find any tags that fall into this category remove them from your hashtag set and make note of not using them in the future. If you don’t have a set of tags you use consistently, you’ll have to double check all of your tags before adding them to new posts. Lastly, if you did find you were using a broken hashtag, go back through your old posts and remove the hashtag from those posts by either editing your caption and deleting the tag, or deleting the comment that contains your hashtags.

5. Report the problem to Instagram. Instagram and Facebook are notoriously hard to get in contact with but reporting your problem is worth a shot. You can do this from inside your Instagram app – just go to your profile, select the cog icon in the top right and scroll down until you see “report a problem”. Click that, then select “something isn’t working” and type a short message about what you’re experiencing. I recommend saying that your posts aren’t being categorized in the hashtags you used (not that your engagement has dropped; that’s not really a concern for them). Feel free to repeat this process multiple times a day. Don’t hold out hope that Instagram will ever reply, but hey, everything helps!

Why Can I Be Blocked on Instagram?

Reason #1: Mass following and Massliking

The most apparent sign of receiving a temporary block from Instagram is through trying to grow a significant number of likes and followers at one time. This can happen in both cases if you have used third-party promotion tools or performed manual actions without studying the users’ profiles.
Just take your smartphone and check all the spammers that followed you a week ago. I am sure 80% of those accounts will already be blocked. The most likely reason for this would be because they exceeded the limits on follows and likes.
Limits and restrictions according to official Instagram reference:

• a maximum number of likes per hour: 60;
• a maximum number of comments per hour: 60;
• a maximum number of follows per hour: 60;
• a maximum number of messages per hour: 60.

But if your account is fairly new, the limits are different:

• a maximum number of likes per hour: 30;
• a maximum number of comments per hour: 30;
• a maximum number of follows/unfollows per hour: 30.

Important reminder. Instagram adds up the number of follows and unfollows as well as blocking the unwanted users. In total, you can’t take more than 1440 actions on your account daily. Make sure you spread out these actions accordingly.
Violation of Instagram rules leads to a temporary block. It involves limiting the profile’s functionality. You won’t be able to comment, like, follow or write in Direct Messages for a period of time (from 2 hours to 2 weeks).

Reason #2: Excessively Frequent Publications

Instagram monitors the algorithm of publications from one account. The thing is, only the social network knows what the accurate and safest number of publications is. Therefore, it would be advisable not to follow the example of other accounts that may frequently publish posts and get nothing for it.
The optimal advice for every profile is to make pauses between posts. By doing this, you will not be suspected of spamming and other manipulations. Also, we recommend that you do not publish the same photo at the same time from different accounts. Als you can use social media templates, if you want your posts to look really awesome.

Reason #3: Copyright Infringement

The copyright issue is a big deal on Instagram. All images in your account have to be either yours or permitted by the author. If you want to share somebody else’s image, tag the author in the photo (provided he has an Instagram account) and give credit to the author in the description. If you use images for commercial purposes, you will need to ask the author’s permission. Moreover, if you post a video with music to which you don’t have the rights, Instagram will remove such a post for sure.
What is the outcome of ignoring the copyright rules? The author can report you to Instagram for using the photo without their agreement or specifying the authorship and you can be blocked for copyright infringement.

Reason #4: Images/Videos Violating Social Network Rules

Photos and videos featuring naked bodies, sexual content and violence are considered inappropriate. Whatever goals you pursue, posting such inappropriate content can get you banned – so be forewarned.

Reason #5: User Complaints

Someone thought your account was a threat, so they clicked the “Report” button. If there are other people also reporting your account, Instagram will sooner or late block your profile. People can complain of different reasons: mass liking, mass following, insults, inappropriate content, spam etc. So, generally speaking, everything that I mentioned above can result in your account being blocked.

Reason #6: Different IP addresses and Devices

If you log into your account from multiple devices and confirm it via SMS, the platform is less likely to ban you. However, if it happens that you log in from different devices and IP-addresses, Instagram may think your account has been hacked by scammers. The social network reacts to it almost instantly and blocks the profile for your own safety.

Currently there are no similar apps to Instagram that are getting any sort of meaningful traction. If you mean the next social media app that’s going to explode and get extremely popular, then my answer is right now possibly TikTok. But we will definitely need to wait and see what’s going to happen with it, because right now most of it’s users are just kids.
Instagram is still really HOT, and a goldmine if you want to make money out of it. But I’m not sure how long it’s going to stay that way, I think they will follow the same route as Facebook, decreasing organic reach and exposure until it’s not worth to try and build up pages for the sake of free and organic reach. But right now it’s still huge and your opportunity to make income out of it is also huge.

Ashutosh Harbola, CEO and Co-Founder, Buzzoka, an influencer marketing platform, says the removal of Instagram likes is a positive move and is optimistic about the after effects.

“Brands in the current schema of the marketing mix are more focussed on likes and followers and content somehow takes a back seat. With the removal of likes, content will get the maximum boost,” he points out.

Noting that social media prevails and survives on good content, he adds the company has seen “a pattern of performance basis these likes. Agreed, likes were a metric to measure the virality of content, but it also brought in a lot of fake practices like increasing likes by bots. The step will at least stop all unethical practices and a creator will be more focussed on creating good content.”

Some celebrities have argued the move may reduce engagement and make it harder to attract brands, while others maintain it is an ideal opportunity to move away from such vanity metrics, particularly as audience measurement becomes more sophisticated.

Depressurise Instagram

The first social platform to remove the like’ feature, Instagram users will be able to see their own likes, but the same will not be visible to their followers and others on the platform.

It is the latest step in Instagram’s quest to become the safest place on the internet. As Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri pointed out, “The idea is to try to depressurise Instagram, make it less of a competition, and give people more space to focus on connecting with the people they love and things that inspire them.”

Harbola agrees. On the consumer side, he says the effect is even more crucial with today’s youth judging itself on the basis of the likes. “Social media is a space that allows users to take out time from their busy schedule and be connected to the world, but somehow it was turning out to be a jumbo war of likes. We have seen so many cases of depression that have been reported. Now, at least the network will not be judging them,” he says.

The move is also expected to force influencers to embrace more sophisticated marketing metrics, while marketers will need to push harder to evaluate influencers based on clicks, view-through rates and swipe-up engagements related to content.

When will Instagram Die?

Instagram ending anytime soon is a largely impossible. It’s happened before with big social networks for their platform to completely disappear. such as Friendster, the platform that preceded and was eventually pushed out of the game by Myspace.
Then Myspace became the social media juggernaut on the internet in the 2000’s, soon after Facebook came along and took some of their steam. Today, Myspace is still used, but just isn’t as popular.
Instagram seems to be growing a huge rate and I don’t see it slowing down. So all in all, only time will tell.
